The Beauty of Audio Books

Henry is a dog so clearly he is unable to read to himself. You know what Henry loves though? He loves to listen to Audio Books on tape or have a child read a book to him.

Audio books are a great resource for struggling readers to begin to enjoy the wonderful world of literature. With today's technology an audio book is only a few clicks away.

Here are some of Henry's favorite audio book sites:

Your local Library: Check with your local library on their ebook resources. For Jefferson County Colorado Library patrons they offer both Hoopla and Axis 360 to their card holders. These online resources allow kids and adults to enjoy books from anywhere using their device of choice. Henry recently listened to Go Big on Hoopla all the way up to the mountains.

EPIC- Is a book resource for kids 12 and under. They have multiple formats including audio books, read to me, and digital. Check with your classroom teacher they often will sign up with a free account for their students.

Stewards Resources Master Library – You can select your grade level to view and hear text. Every word on the page is clickable so you can see the different words and syllables, and really master that decoding thingy!

Learning Ally : This is a subscription based service that is designed for dyslexic readers. We found their resources and site very informative.

A quick google for audio books will provide you with tons of resources. Do you have a favorite for yourself or student? Let us know in the comments below:
